Among some misguided individuals (and nations) there has been confusion if the term "football" should refer to football (incorrectly called "soccer" by some silly people) or American football (which is kind of weaker diluted version of rugby, paced well for Budweiser advertisement breaks in TV). Now this terminology confusion has been finally explained:

Good work there, whoever made that image! The correct terms are football and handegg.

P.S. Nasder: be ashamed. Be VERY ashamed of yourself and do correct your ways :-).

Soccer :
The word "soccer" comes from the original name of the game "Association Football" or more precisely from its abbreviation Assoc. Assoc. was a slang term used in UK universities from about 1889. It later became socca, socker (1891) and finally evolved into soccer (1895).

Football:
The English language word football may mean any one of several team sports (or the ball used in that respective sport), depending on the national or regional origin and location of the person using the word.
Where English is a first language the unqualified use of the word football is used to refer to the most popular code of football in that region. The sports most frequently referred to as simply football are Association football (soccer), American football, Australian rules football, Canadian football, Gaelic football, and Rugby football (rugby league or rugby union).
